About me

Hello, I’m Claire Louise. For the past 10 years, I have had the privilege of being a Celebrant and Registrar, helping hundreds of couples tie the knot and celebrate their love. During this time, I have also had the honour to conduct End of Life Ceremonies, which help couples get married when one of the individuals is terminally ill and in their final days.
I found these ceremonies particularly moving and felt so grateful to have been part of these emotional, and often difficult days. These ceremonies made me realise that I would love to be able to support other families during a time of profound grief, by helping give a voice to a life that mattered so much to them, and by honouring their lost loved one with respect, care and dignity, but also with a touch of joy, to celebrate the life they lived. I started Wings, so that I can stand alongside families at one of the most difficult times of their lives and support them in some small way. This is a role I value deeply and will never take lightly.
My path into celebrancy was an interesting one. I worked for many years in a 9 – 5 office job until I realised that my passion for animals, was something I would like to turn into a career. I left my office job and trained and qualified as an Animal Nurse Assistant, and worked at a local veterinary surgery for over 12 years. I loved looking after the animals and also being part of a caring profession, but after many years there, I felt that I wanted to transfer the skills I had learnt, towards people, not just animals. I came across a job advert for a Registrar which I thought sounded very interesting, but I had always been terrified of the thought of public speaking! I decided to challenge myself and took the plunge, and so, my journey to becoming a celebrant began and I have never looked back! Every ceremony I have conducted has been a true privilege and honour, and I am truly grateful to be a part of each and every one of them.
Outside of my work, I love walking my beautiful little dog, riding my motorbike (preferably on sunny days!), spending time with my family and friends, and visiting Italy whenever I can!
I am half Italian (unfortunately I didn’t inherit the olive skin!) and was born and raised in Kent until the age of 14. We then moved to northern Italy as a family, where I learnt the language, finished my studies and started my working life. I lived there for 13 years but really missed the UK, so in 2002 I returned home to Kent and have been here ever since! I still have a lot of family in Italy, so I visit them as often as I can and I also enjoy the chance to use my Italian, which did take a good few years to master!
